Womenswear Garment Technologist – Fast-Paced Fashion Supplier, London
Our Client, a leading premium British Menswear Brand, has a vacancy for a Senior Menswear Garment Technologist to join their team for a 12 month maternity cover starting end January 25.
The Senior Garment Technologist will:
Maintain and improve through applied technology the quality and value of all products in line with the business strategic direction.
Working with the product team the Senior Technologist will provide technical support for the business ensuring all products comply with legal and accepted industry standards.
The Senior Technologist will ensure that the approval process and the quality management of products fulfil and exceed the company’s expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide technical support to the buying, and design teams along with the suppliers to develop a close working relationship.
• Create and develop technical packs ensuring suitability of product and supplier, including technical information and specification as required,
• Managing the product from development, first fit, through to production, liaising with design, buying, merchandising, suppliers.
• Apply in depth experience in addition to taking full responsibility and accountability when fitting and sealing product.
• Maintain departmental quality, fit, testing, grading standards, to uphold manual compliance and instigate new upgrades where applicable.
• Using your in-depth knowledge to develop the right product ensuring fit and quality standards are met to achieve right first-time sampling and support customer trends.
• Work closely with design, buying and supplier to ensure suitability of materials and components for product end use.
• Understand product costing and the implication of changes in product specifications on the cost price.
• Ensure compliance of all products to legal standards. Conduct comprehensive product risk assessments and wearer trails resolving issues before production and understanding where commercial decisions are not appropriate.
• Manage the production process with the team in weekly critical path meetings,
• Arrange visits to the supplier as and when required.
• Monitor returns and feefo comments. Ensure issues are followed through identifying faults, actioning improvements.
• Provide technical support to the warehouse team.
• Take the lead in sharing ideas and developments with other product areas to ensure Brand product consistency.

• Comprehensive understanding of the manufacturing processes, including product make, fabrics and finishing, and their implications on total lead times.
• Understanding of supply chain issues/ costs – e.g. product lead times/ flexibility/ supplier capability
• Garment /pattern construction
• Have a knowledge and understanding of Fabrics, Yarns their properties, end use and testing requirements
Qualifications/ Training
• Relevant experience working in a Technical role.
• Excellent knowledge of Microsoft programmes e.g., Word, Excel & Outlook.
• Comprehensive understanding of spec sheets, tech packs and fit comments as well as quality control procedures including fabric composition, construction, and product construction
• Have the experience to make decisions when required without compromising the product.
