Quality Control Manager - South Yorkshire

Our clients are successful business with focus and vision & are now looking for a talented Quality Control Manager.

They are looking for a diligent, hardworking, detail orientated Quality Control Manager to join their  technical team working across the  Men’s and Women’s multi-product protective clothing ranges.  Overseeing the successful quality and control of all garments satisfying our #engineeredforengineers ethos and audit requirements.

* Please note this is office based in Doncaster South Yorkshire, no hybrid working ,and all candidates must have the rights to work in the UK , our client does not offer sponsorships for those outside the UK.*

 Upholding the highest standards of quality, QC SLA dates and the upkeep of strong manufacturer relationships. Offering training and support to the Quality Controller and external QC team members across all technical aspects of all products. The candidate should be passionate about quality, compliance, construction and fit.

Responsible for continually maintaining the highest standards of garment construction, safety and labelling standards across the ranges.

Weekly/monthly reporting  on QC outcomes / data / concerns / improvements

Work closely with Production team on forward planning of deliveries coming in to the DC’s.  Reviewing priorities for QC with Supply Chain Director and planning workload accordingly across teams and locations

Work closely with Senior Garment Technologist of handover of new products going into production to effectively manage and plan QC requirements ahead of first bulk shipments.

Analysis of QC reports weekly to feed back to Quality Controller on any changes in planning / concerns / extra checks needed

Tracking of quality control data on a weekly, quarterly and yearly basis, preparing reports  to analyse and look at possible patterns and areas for improvement with Head-of- 

Management of European 3PL QC planning and execution

Communication with 3PL team and QC on findings and next steps on any resolutions needed

Support Quality Controller during busy times / high intake weeks with QC checks as and when needed

Organisation and planning of Manufacturer visits to undertake periodic or specialist in Line QC checks

Planning and execution of manufacturer in-line QC on visits to site and follow up actions.

Point of contact for all quality claims and garment returns of  products.  Review and investigate where needed and escalate to supply partners / manufacturers as relevant.  See through the TZ/Claim to successful resolution

Continual evolution, development, improvement and time saving throughout the QC process whilst finding further efficiencies to the departmental processes.

Team Management

  • Line manager for Quality Controller responsible for their day to day work load planning and priorities.
  • Plan and execute monthly 1-2-1 meetings with the Quality Controller supporting their development within the team, feeding back to Head -of with any concerns / positive progress.
  • HR management for QC including holiday requests and sick leave ensuring departmental cover is in place
  • Continual training and development of the Quality Controllers
  • Year end reviews with Head-of  for Quality Controller.

Short-Medium Term Projects

  • In House Operations colleagues training on basic/entry level QC tasks to support during high intake weeks.  Set scope of training and implement training with colleagues who will support on an ad-hoc basis / holiday cover as needed.
  • Onboarding of US quality control team, support on building structure, people needs, process design and implementation and execution of  quality control in the facility.  Ongoing management of this team on a daily basis

The Candidate:

  • Excellent level of knowledge of garment construction and production of multi-product garments
  • Experience of managing QMS systems and processes including design, implementation and management of these
  • Quality control experience across product types and knowledge and experience of key challenges to expect
  • Strong work ethic
  • Analytical mindset, always looking to leave no stone unturned or question unasked
  • Experience of people management across stakeholder levels
  • A team player with great interpersonal skills, willing to support others within your team and external partners
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and manage workloads across stakeholders to achieve QC SLA’s.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a strong analytical mindset
