Altura Product Developer

The role:
Reporting to, and working closely with the Head of Own Brands, the job holder will be responsible for leading the Altura brand product development, ensuring this is in line with the agreed strategic direction, values and purpose of the brand.

This is an exciting opportunity to play an important role in the future of Altura at a critical point in the brands journey. Working as part of a small team, this is a varied and busy role which would suit someone with excellent time management and organisational skills, a flexible approach and a can-do attitude. The duties
you will undertake will include but are not limited to;

  • Owning and leading all aspects of the new product development process, from initial design phase through prototyping to delivery.
  • Inputting to seasonal range reviews and product brief formation.
  • Working closely with the Fabric Technologist and wider Design and Development team to ensure
  • products meet commercial and quality requirements outlined in initial briefs.
  • Building detailed Tech Packs, updating and sharing with vendors throughout development process.
  • Ensuring development timelines are followed in line with critical path.
  • Arranging and conducting regular fit sessions to ensure suitable and consistent fit across the range.
  • Arranging and conducting seasonal studio photoshoots for new products.
  • Organising and conducting seasonal product field testing.
  • Liaising with demand and planning teams to assist with order and delivery processes.
  • Building strong vendor relationships and seeking new vendor opportunities.
  • Identifying opportunities around advances in fabric and construction technology with existing and new vendors.
  • Attending trade shows and visiting overseas vendors in Europe and Asia as required throughout the year.
  • Identifying areas of improvement in existing processes and procedures to enhance the smooth and efficient operation of the design and development process.

The requirements:
This is a fantastic opportunity which will suit an ambitious individual who is keen to learn and challenge best
practice with new ways of thinking. You will be extremely organised, be deadline focussed and have a keen
eye for detail. This role will be office based in Darlington with a hybrid working pattern.

Essential:

  • 5+ years’ experience in a similar apparel development role, ideally in the technical sports apparel sector.
  • A detailed understanding of garment construction and technical fabric properties.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office apps including Excel 
  • Highly organised and able to effectively prioritise wide and varied task lists in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail oriented, motivated by continual improvement.
  • Flexible, enthusiastic approach and a can-do attitude.
  • Passionate about creating high quality, commercially successful product.
  • Desirable:
  • Experience in Abode Illustrator or similar
  • An interest in cycling
