Payroll Administrator

Here at The Edinburgh Woollen Mill we have a fantastic opportunity for a Payroll Administrator to join our Payroll team based at our Head Office in Carlisle.

Main purpose of the role:
To ensure that employees (on the payroll(s) for which you are directly responsible) are paid correctly, on time, and in line with statutory legislation.

Job Responsibilities

1. Day to Day Payroll Processing
· Input all data received:
- New Starts
- Leavers
- Changes
- Tax Code Changes
- Court Orders
- Monthly Hours
- Store Bonus
- Any other ad hoc data
· Follow up missing or incomplete data.
· Calculate and input SSP, SMP and SPP, ensuring payments are in line with statutory legislation.
· Maintain up to date absence record cards.
· Run monthly report to ensure pay rates are updated in line with National Minimum Wage.
· Complete all payroll input in line with agreed timetable.
· Process pay runs (first run, final run & supplementary runs as appropriate) in line with agreed timetable ensuring that payroll is fully checked and complete by the BACS processing deadline.
· Process BACS Recalls.
· Print all payslips & P45 Forms. Arrange distribution of payslips to stores, Head Office and Warehouse, ensuring payslips are received on or prior to date of payment.
· Process all monthly reports and ensure they are available to payroll team in Cardiff by agreed timetable .
· File all statutory reports (FPS Files) with HMRC on or before each pay date

2. General Duties
· Open, sort and distribute mail.
· Maintain accurate and up to date filing systems.
· Respond to queries ensuring that all queries are satisfactorily resolved. Highlight any major or unresolved issues to the Payroll Manager.
· Assist with training of new staff as required.
· Provide cover for other Payrolls during absence/holidays.
· Assist Payroll Manager with other ad hoc duties as required.

3. Security
· Ensure that confidential information is stored securely and not disclosed to any unauthorised persons.
· Ensure that system passwords are stored securely and not disclosed to any unauthorised persons.
