Packaging Designer
Our client is a fabulous family run business with over 75 years of experience. They are a business that offer design and manufacturer of Fashion accessories to include bags, belts, wallets and giftware to the high street with a portfolio of private label customers and their own branded division. This is a fantastic company to work for as they truly value all their staff and encourages engagement, empowerment, and growth. They are looking for a Packaging Designer with strong knowledge of Illustrator/Photoshop and creative and technical knowledge of packaging design. Due to the lack of public transport, the candidate must be able to drive.
Packaging Designer - The Role:
- Pitch visual ideas and to scale mock-ups of design concepts to customers & wider team.
- Work to customer brief following packaging guidelines.
- Communication of exact packaging requirements via detailed specification to the factory and support with follow up queries.
- Manage packaging approval process with key customer contacts
- Work under tight deadlines and ensure projects are completed on time.
- Input into packing list to give clear factory instructions on packaging method.
- Keep up to date with and communicate to the wider team any new packaging legislations, sustainability developments and keep detailed packaging reference library.
- Risk assess current ranges and advise recommendations on improvements where needed.
- Design seasonal planograms as an in-store visual merchandising tool to demonstrate how the concession range should be displayed in store.
- Research & analyse market trends and similar packaging designs
- Photograph samples in order to compile line sheets and brochures
- Create UK factory tooling specs, to include accurate, to-scale CAD drawings.
- Collaborate with the team on group projects to meet deadlines
Packaging Designer - The Candidate:
- A minimum of 1-2 years’ experience in packaging design
- Strong knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and other associated Adobe software (Photoshop, Illustrator, and In Design)
- Creative and technical knowledge within packaging design, with the methodical approach needed for precise to-scale CAD work.
- Understanding of packaging materials, production methods, and printing processes
- Excellent visual communication skills with a strong eye for packaging and artwork graphic design
- A proactive team player with strong communication and organisational skills
- A driven work ethic and high attention to detail
- Be willing to learn new skills and tasks
- Possess the agility to turn around fast paced projects to meet critical path deadlines
- Have an enthusiasm for fashion and accessories
- Hold a full driving licence and access to a vehicle
- Self-motivated and able to work under own autonomy or as part of a team.
Packaging Designer - The Package:
- Hybrid working (one day WFH) and flexible start/finish times.
- Salary depending on experience
