Knitwear Designer

We are excited to present a fantastic opportunity for a talented Knitwear Designer to elevate their career with a highly successful and well-established fashion company.

Based in Manchester, this role involves designing knitwear for some of the most prominent retailers across the UK, Europe, and the USA. As an industry leader with a strong reputation, our client offers the chance to play a key role in their thriving ladies' knitwear division.

The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for emerging trends and a solid technical understanding of yarns and garment construction.

This position also offers hybrid working, with four days in the office and one day working from home.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Translating trends into commercially viable knitwear designs.
  • Gathering and utilising internal and external insights to drive knitwear product and range development tailored to customers.
  • Developing seasonal in-house collections for the customer base.
  • Overseeing product development with PD teams to ensure concepts are brought to life.
  • Continuously innovating by identifying newness and emerging trends.
  • Creating detailed hand-drawn specs for product development.
  • Managing product development with overseas suppliers independently.
  • Presenting collections to clients and conducting customer meetings with confidence.

Person Specification:

  • Previous experience designing ladies' knitwear.
  • Proficiency in CAD and Adobe Illustrator.
  • Strong trend awareness and a keen eye for design influences.
  • Excellent presentation skills and the ability to build strong relationships with Buyers.
  • Confident communication skills, with the ability to interact at all levels.
  • A team-oriented mindset with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Solid yarn and construction knowledge.
