  • Basis: Full Time
  • Job category/type: Head office

At Seasalt we live and breathe our product and are proud of the exceptional quality and level of care we take in design and sourcing, to deliver beautiful garments which are loved by our customers. Based on the Cornish coast, we're a multi-channel lifestyle brand with over 70 shops across the UK & Ireland, over 400 wholesale stockists, a growing online business, and an expanding list of Strategic Partners.

As a Buyer you'll work closely with the Merchandising, Design and Technical teams to create the season's range, ensuring that the product reflects the departmental strategy. Partnering with Merchandising and sourcing you will achieve the agreed sales and profit targets irrespective of fluctuating trends. You’ll manage an effective and timely product sign off process, appropriate for product lead time as per the Buying Calendar and you’ll adhere strictly to the Critical Path.

You’ll be able to establish and implement best practices across the business and confidently present product ranges in retail launches.

This role is offered as a full time, permanent position and is based at our Head Office in Falmouth. In our blended approach to hybrid working, we expect our people to work a minimum of 40% of their week from a Seasalt Office in Cornwall, the remaining 60% of the time will be from home (or your chosen location) – however, you must be based in the UK.

A relocation allowance is available for eligible candidates of up to 5% of the offered yearly salary, which can be used to reclaim associated expenses once you join us.

You'll help us by:

Developing a clear understanding of the Seasalt customer and working with our Designer to actively develop a Seasalt handwriting. Thoroughly understanding competitors pricing strategies and advising on any actions to remain competitive. Working with merchandisers to ensure a balanced range is developed in line with any attribute performance.

Proposing and agreeing any growths and declines and speak confidently about department's performance, providing evidence to support proposals.

Cultivating opportunities with suppliers and ensuring that a product sourcing strategy is in place which maximises margin and an agile supply chain. Challenging suppliers on lead times, to ensure your department has flexibility to trade and to ensure suppliers remain proactive.

Reacting to trade performance, providing management with repeat opportunities as well as cancellations to maximise profit. Costing product and questioning supplier prices to ensure best possible price without effecting quality.

Working closely with design and tech teams to ensure product sustainability targets are met while balancing quality requirement and margin targets.

Collating seasonal marketing brief information packs will also be a key senior responsibility in this role.

Ensuring key business strategies are cascaded through the team and supporting and developing more junior members of the team.

The skills you'll be sharing with the team:

  • With proven experience in fashion buying, you’ll be passionate about product and commercially driven. Able to work in a fast-paced environment, you’ll confidently work well under pressure and will manage competing priorities and deadlines effectively.
  • Strong negotiation skills will be key to success in this role as will the ability to network and build purposeful working relationships.
  • You’ll have experience in driving sales through commercial and brand focussed decision-making processes and you will be able to professionally and logically approach any problems that arise.
  • With an open, honest and positive personality you will be a great communicator and will have proven experience collaborating and working alongside a range of departments within a fashion or retail environment.
  • With a love of product you will bring your passion and enthusiasm to your day to day role and help inspire others both within the product team and when communicating across departments.
  • You’ll have good team management and coaching skills and you will be able to use your influencing skills at all levels to achieve our strategic priorities whilst remaining self-motivated and able to motivate others around you.
