Main Responsibilities Will Include:
- Taking full charge of month-end processes, including journals, accruals, prepayments, and depreciation.
- Preparing purchase reports, such as commissions and freight charges.
- Owning the balance sheet reconciliation process and ensuring accuracy.
- Completing quarterly VAT returns and staying up to date with VAT compliance updates.
- Creating weekly management reports, such as aged trial balances and sales reports.
- Overseeing customer payment allocation, sales invoices, and debt collection.
- Supporting the Management Accountant with ad hoc reports, analysis, and financial projects.
- Managing and mentoring a Junior Bookkeeper, providing guidance and support.
- Jumping in to assist with ad hoc tasks and projects as needed.
Person Specifications:
- Excel wizardry: Advanced Excel skills are a must.
- Solid experience: At least 2-3 years of experience as an Accounts Assistant in the UK.
- Double-entry bookkeeping: A good understanding and hands-on experience.
- Impeccable attention to detail: Strong data entry skills and accuracy.
- Proactive attitude: A self-starter with a can-do mindset and a love for working as part of a team.
- Analytical skills: Ability to produce high-quality financial reports.
- Excellent communication: Strong communication skills and an eagerness to learn and develop.
